American Photography

The #Rijksmuseum presents the first comprehensive survey of the history of American photography in Europe. With more than 200 works spanning three centuries, American Photography explores the rich and multifaceted history of photography in the United States—from everyday personal moments to turning points in history, demonstrating how photography has permeated every aspect of our lives since its invention in the 19th century: in art, news, advertising and everyday life.

Operation Night Watch

Visitors to the #Night #Watch #Gallery will see the Operation Night Watch team working in the glass chamber on the biggest ever research and restoration project devoted to Rembrandt’s masterpiece. 

Carrie Mae Weems: Painting the Town

The Rijksmuseum presents the first exhibition in the Netherlands of American photographer Carrie Mae Weems, featuring her exceptional series Painting the Town.

Isamu Noguchi in the Rijksmuseum Gardens

Widely regarded as one of the most important sculptors of the 20th century, American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904 to 1988) has left an indelible mark on the art world with his innovative approach to sculpture. The exhibition in the Rijksmuseum gardens comprises stone and bronze sculptures.

The Rijksmuseum has given artist Fiona Tan carte blanche for her own exhibition. This summer Tan will present her exciting selection from the collection alongside loaned objects and examples of her own work.

Suit Yourself ,100 Years Of Menswear, 1750 to 1850

The Suit Yourself display reveals how fashionable men in the 18th and 19th centuries would flaunt themselves dressed in flamboyant striped velvet, floral embroidery and rich silk fabrics.
