Dass die Sprache immer mehr verflachen tut, ist nichts Neues. Relativ neu ist allerdings der Startwahn. Nichts beginnt mehr, alles startet. So schreibt und sagt man mittlerweile nur noch »Der Tag startet um 6 Uhr« anstatt »Der Tag beginnt um 6 Uhr«. Einlässe sind nicht ab soundsoviel Uhr, sie »starten« um soundsoviel Uhr. Die Party fängt nicht um 20 Uhr an – sie »startet« um 20 Uhr. Es geht nicht nachmittags los, es »startet« nachmittags.

Ein Start klingt dynamischer, hipper, proaktiver und nach Rocket Science. Starten tun vor allem Raketen. Und so umwogt eben alles was »startet« der Geist des Aufbruchs ins All, die Krone der Wissenschaft und Technik (»Technologie«). #Partys, Einlässe, #Tage, #Wanderungen, Radtouren, #Spaziergänge, Filmvorführungen, #Konzerte, Veranstaltungen aller Art, Bürgerbeteiligungen, Wahlen, Sitzungen, #Impulsvorträge, Key Notes – alle Ereignisse greifen nach den Sternen. Per aspera ad astra – über sprachliche Schwierigkeiten ohne weitere #Umwege zu den Sternen. Was will man mehr?

The fact that language is becoming more and more shallow is nothing new. However, the launch craze is relatively new. Nothing begins anymore, everything starts. So people now just write and say “The day starts at 6 a. m.” instead of “The day begins at 6 a. m.” Entrances don’t start from so and so, they "start" at so and so. The party doesn’t start at 8 p. m. – it “starts” at 8 p. m. It doesn’t start in the afternoon, it “starts” in the afternoon.

Of course, a launch also sounds much more dynamic, much hipper, much more proactive and somehow like Rocket Science. Rockets are the main things that take off. And so everything that “launches” the departure into space, the crown of science and technology, sways around everything. #Parties, entrances, #days, #hikes, bike tours, #walks, film screenings, #concerts, events of all kinds, civic participation, elections, meetings, #stimulus lectures, key notes  all events reach for the stars. Per aspera ad astra—about linguistic difficulties without further detours to the stars. What more do you want?

Le fait que le langage devienne de plus en plus superficiel n’a rien de nouveau. Cependant, l’engouement pour les lancements est relativement nouveau. Plus rien ne commence, tout commence. Alors maintenant, les gens écrivent simplement et disent «La journée commence à 6 heures du matin» au lieu de «La journée commence à 6 heures du matin». Les entrées ne commencent pas à tel ou tel, elles «commencent» à tel ou tel. La fête ne commence pas à 20 heures – elle «commence» à 20 heures. Ça ne commence pas l’après-midi, ça «commence» l’après-midi.

Bien sûr, un lancement semble également beaucoup plus dynamique, beaucoup plus branché, beaucoup plus proactif et ressemble en quelque sorte à Rocket Science. Les fusées sont les principaux objets qui décollent. Et ainsi tout ce qui «lance» le départ dans l’espace, couronne de la science et de la technologie («technologie»), oscille autour de tout. #Fêtes, entrées, #journées, #randonnées, balades à vélo, #promenades, projections de films, #concerts, événements en tout genre, participation civique, élections, réunions, #conférences de relance, keynotes - tous les événements atteignent les étoiles. Per aspera ad astra – sur les difficultés linguistiques sans plus de détours vers les étoiles. Que veux-tu de plus?
