Eurovision 2022, Every Country’s Celebratory Cocktail, Revealed

The Eurovision 2022 final took place on Saturday (14 May 2022) and many people were pationately rooting for their favourite performance. And what better way to do that than with a cocktail in hand?

With this in mind, experts at Cazaar.co.ukExternal Link (cazaar.co.ukExternal Link) decided to find out the favourite cocktail of each of the participating countries in this year’s Eurovision. By extracting a seed list of the 50 most popular cocktails and taking to SEMrush to collect average search volumes, Cazaar.co.ukExternal Link ultimately discovered the most loved cocktail in each country, along with the most popular cocktails as a whole.

Key Findings

  • The most popular cocktail among the countries participating in Eurovision 2022 is the Mojito, with a total of 452,610 average monthly search volumes.

  • The UK is the only country to favour the Negroni cocktail.

  • The favourite cocktail of this year's winner, Ukraine, is Earthquake.

The number one winner for the most popular cocktail among all Eurovision-participating countries is the Mojito. The traditional Cuban drink managed to accumulate 452,610 average monthly search volumes in total and is a favourite in 11 countries. To make it, you would need white rum, lime juice, mint leaves, sugar and soda water.

Second place goes to the Mimosa cocktail, with 256,430 total average search volumes. It is believed that the drink was created by a bartender at the Ritz Hotel in Paris in 1925. In order to make it at home, prosecco and orange juice are the only ingredients one would need.

With a total of 235,740 monthly average search volumes (20,690 less than its predecessor), closely following in third place is the Margarita. This Mexican cocktail is said to have been created in 1936. Its main ingredients are tequila, lime juice and triple sec.

And the least loved cocktail is …

Having a total of 0 average search volumes, the last place is shared by two cocktails—the Highball and surprisingly, the Aperol Spritz, which originated in this year’s Eurovision host country, Italy.

  1. Cazaar.co.ukExternal Link (cazaar.co.ukExternal Link) sought to discover the favourite cocktail of each European country participating in Eurovision 2022.

  2. A seed list of all European countries taking part in this year’s Eurovision was extracted from the song contest’s official websiteExternal Link.

  3. Following, a seed list of the 50 most popular cocktails was gathered from Taste AtlasExternal Link.

  4. Each cocktail was then manually input into SEMrushExternal Link and the average monthly search volume for each of the countries was recorded.

  5. All cocktails were then also ranked based on the amount of search volumes they had generated, so that the most popular could be determined.
